US News & World Report ranks Franklin #16 in the nation and singles it out for a special article and video
"Benjamin Franklin Senior High School was on the short list of New Orleans public schools still standing after Hurricane Katrina. Though parts of the school had severe water damage and mold growth, the building's concrete structure and brick facade remained sound. But Franklin's good fortune almost meant its demise." UPDATE: Sen. Mary Landrieu visited the school on February 20, 2009 to congratulate us on our status as the #1 high school in the state and #16 in the country. She has offered her help and support in our endeavors to restore items lost in Katrina through FEMA. |

Is it time for your REUNION?
The Alumni Association provides $200 seed money to get you started. Also, the school will pay for the printing and mailing of one invitation or postcard for your reunion. In return the Alumni Association asks for two things:
- That your class provide an updated address, phone and email list for your classmates to our database chairman, Heidi Charters ’75, following your reunion.
- That someone from your class write an article about the reunion to be published in the Alumni Newsletter. The article should be emailed to Sam Charters '75.
To request the seed money or to have your information added to this website, email Development/Alumni Director Christy Cowart Read ’89 or call (504) 286-2615.

Give to the Ben Franklin Future Fund
Since we are now a charter school, which is essentially an independent public school, the financial disparity between our state revenues and what it actually costs to run our school is even more apparent. CLICK HERE for more information about the fund and for ways you can contribute.
